The structure of LED and CCFL backlight is basically the same, with the main difference being the replacement of CCFL's line light source with LED's point light source. But why do major TV brands adopt LED instead of CCFL as their backlight? Generally speaking, LEDs have the following characteristics:

1. In the form of LED point light source, the brightness and brightness can be adjusted in each block. And by dimming, the grayscale of LCD displays can be improved. Make the image present a wider color saturation (NTSC>100%), especially making the bright and dark fields more distinct, and the sense of image hierarchy more prominent.

2. The fast extinction characteristics of LED light sources improve reaction speed, improve the dynamic image quality of LCD displays, and reduce the feeling of shaking and residual shadows. In the case of rapid extinguishing, LED has a longer lifespan compared to CCFL.

3. The LED backlight module has a small volume and can be used as a side light type in addition to a straight down type, which helps with thinning.

4. LED TVs have no radiation lines, are environmentally friendly and mercury free, have a long service life, and can reduce power consumption by more than 30%. They are truly green and environmentally friendly products. However, compared to CCFL, LED TVs still have many difficulties to overcome, such as the large number of LED backlight particles and how to solve the problem of uniformity. In addition, issues such as heat dissipation, luminous efficiency, and high costs need to be addressed.
